ONLINE PERSONAL CLASSES
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Hello! My name is Guillermo, I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and my native language is Spanish. I have a degree in Public Relations, a postgraduate degree in Public Opinion and Political Communication and a master's degree in Political Science and Sociology. I also have a teacher's degree and this year I am going to start a PhD in Social Sciences.
I like to read, watch movies or TV series, preferably on historical topics, and also exercise. I am also a Christian, so I really enjoy studying the Bible.
I have always liked teaching. For this reason, once I finish my university degree, I did a pedagogical complementation for professionals, which enables me to teach in my country. At the university where I did my internship they took me as an assistant professor and from there I developed my career within the academic world. Currently, I have been teaching at both universities and secondary schools for ten years and I am part of the management team of a higher education institute.
As I love languages, it was a logical step to extend my educational activities towards this field, taking advantage of the opportunities we have today to connect with other people and learn about other cultures. That's why I'm here today to help you learn Spanish. You are, of course, free to take advantage of any of the resources that I have prepared and that are available online if you find them useful, but also, if you wish to deepen your knowledge of Spanish, you can contact me to schedule personal online classes. Having regular meetings where you can interact with a native speaker who guides you in the learning process would be much more effective than studying on your own, and it would also help me, as a source of work, to continue my academic and professional activities.
ABOUT THE METHODOLOGY
In my classes I always look for two things; that these are interesting for the students and that they leave having learned something new and therefore advancing in the acquisition of knowledge and skills that are useful to them.
I usually resort to real life cases, because that has generally resulted from the interest of my students. So we can use, for example, the news, fragments of series or movies, songs, etc. But I do not seek to focus on a single method, because each student has their own interests and ways of learning, so I prefer to adapt my classes to each particular case. That is why in a first meeting, I would seek to know your interests and your objectives in learning the language, and from there plan the classes based on such information.
The idea is that the classes are relaxed, creating a space in which the student can feel comfortable to advance in the command of Spanish, at their own pace and according to their interests. I understand and speak English, so if at first it is difficult for you to communicate in Spanish, it will not be a problem to take the class.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE CLASSES
The classes are structured around two elements. The first and most important is given by synchronous online meetings through a videoconference platform. The duration and frequency of these meetings depends on the package you hire.There is a range of options available for you to choose the one that best suits your preferences and possibilities.
The second element is asynchronous work. Once you have registered for the classes you will receive a code through which you will have access to a personal classroom. There you will find materials, bibliography and exercises through which you can continue practicing Spanish between one synchronous class and the next. Your use of it is optional. The idea is simply to optimize the time of the classes that you have contracted and not spend it on things that you can work on independently, but this will depend on the time you want to continue dedicating to the study of Spanish outside of synchronous classes. You can also use the classroom to communicate with me and leave me doubts or suggestions of issues that you would like to work on in class.
