GENDER OF NOUNS IN SPANISH VI masculine nouns that change a large part or all of the word when they become feminine

As we saw in another post, most masculine nouns ending in "r" become feminine by adding an "a" to the end of the word. However, there are at least two cases where the word modification is greater. These are "actor" (actor) and "emperador" (emperor) whose femenines forms in Spanish are "actriz" and "emperatriz".

'La emperatriz' tendrá temporada 2: Netflix renueva el exitoso drama de época sobre Isabel de Austria ('The Empress' will have season 2: Netflix renews the successful period drama about Elizabeth of Austria).

"El emperador de Japón cumple 63 años" (The Emperor of Japan turns 63).

On the other hand, there are nouns in which the words used for the masculine and feminine forms are completely different. Some examples are hombre (man) and mujer (woman), padre (father) and madre (mother), yerno (son-in-law) and nuera (daughter-in-law), toro (bull) and vaca (cow) , caballo (horse) and yegua (mare).

"Fue al supermercado a hacer las compras y entró montada en un caballo" (She went to the supermarket to do the shopping and entered mounted on a horse).

"Bomberos rescatan a una yegua atrapada en una acequia en Vélez-Málaga" (Firefighters rescue a mare trapped in a ditch in Vélez-Málaga).
